In the unfortunate event of a death of an immediate or extended family member, you may be eligible to receive paid time off from work as bereavement leave of up to five (5) working days. The Company may also grant up to three (3) days of paid time off from work for the bereavement of other extended family members. Bereavement leave is granted for the consecutive days that an employee is regularly scheduled to work and will not be deducted from annual leave days. However, business needs, in relation to the location and logistics of the funeral will be taken into consideration.
Please note: “Immediate or extended family members” include a spouse, child, mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather, domestic partner, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchild, step-parent, step-child and legal guardian. “Other extended family members” of the employee or spouse include great grandmother, great grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, and cousin.
